The Vice-Chair works as part of a team of 8 executive officers – Chair, Vice-chair, VC Membership, Secretary, Treasurer, Women’s Officer, Youth – to ensure the effective management of the affairs of the CLP.
Meetings can’t go ahead without a Chair. The main responsibility of the Vice-Chair is to stand in for the CLP Chair when they’re not available.
All officers have a duty, in conjunction with the treasurer, to ensure that CLP finances are properly managed, and that expenditure is properly approved and accounted for. No officer individually has the power to authorise expenditure.
Chairing meetings, making sure they’re run in a fair and open way and ensuring everyone is listened to and has their say when the CLP Chair is unavailable.
Just like CLP Chairs, Vice Chairs need to be well organised, great communicators and to have the ability to make sure meetings stay on track.
The Vice-Chair will also take on other roles that are required of the EC where they are not covered by current officers or coordinators. This role may subsume another role in the future if the need arises. A successful Vice-Chair will work closely with the Chair to ensure that the CLP runs smoothly in all activities and be a voice within the wider community.
